The details

Phenylene Bis-Diphenyltriazine (aka TriAsorB) is a newer organic UV filter that behaves like a hybrid between a classic chemical filter and a mineral one. It's broad-spectrum that covers UVB, short and long UVA, and a chunk of high-energy visible/blue light in the ~400-430 nm range. This ingredient is an insoluble, non-nano particle that's notably photostable. This just means it holds up well under sun exposure instead of degrading. The science behind it comes mostly from the team that developed it; Bacqueville et al. (2021) tested it on lab-grown human skin and found it lowered the signs of DNA damage that UV and blue light normally cause. A later study backed this up, showing it reduced the dark spots and pigmentation that blue light triggers on actual people. The EU approved it in 2019 for dermally applied sunscreens at up to 5% and it has been cleared for use safety-wise.
